Private Residence c. 1855

Philadelphia, PA

The owners of this rowhouse lived next door. It was purchased as a rental unit and needed substantial renovations to be marketable. Although not part of the project, Kate Cowing Architect, LLC knew that this couple was bursting out of their own two-bedroom rowhome. They both worked from home and needed additional office space.

While working on the renovations, Kate designed an accessory space to the couple’s own home by relocating the rental unit’s kitchen. Now the front of the house is a rental unit while the back room is an office space accessed from their garden which has also doubled in the process.
